Hooky and Proggy Rag Rugs Workshop
10am – 4pm, 7th October 2018
Rag Rugs were a common sight in many homes in the mid-20th century. Made from old sacks and recycled fabrics they were an economical option to keep feet warm and toasty in an era before carpets. The tradition today has made a resurgence in mat-making over the last few years.
In this workshop, we will learn the technique to make bags, cushion covers and mats. Once you learn the basic skills you can explore and be as experimental as you like with the concept. We will look at design processes to enhance and help you through a creative process to develop yourself with colour, texture and patterns.
Materials and tools will be included in the price along with lunch and refreshments. (Please let Helen know prior to the workshop if you have any dietary requirements).
