Georgian Revivals: Twentieth-Century Responses to Georgian Architecture and Design
Friday 5th April 2019, 10am – 4pm
A one day conference with the University of Buckingham.
This conference brings together a group of distinguished scholars and practitioners to explore different facets of the Georgian revivals of the twentieth century and to question what those revivals have in common. The speakers will challenge orthodoxies and champion neglected architects as they seek their own answers to the question, ‘Is there really such a thing as “neo-Georgian,” or does it operate as a catch-all label, disguising a diverse range of styles and principles?’
Jeremy Musson, ‘The Georgians’
John Simpson, ‘The Timeless Language of Classical Architecture’
Jeremy Howard, ‘The Neo-Georgian Interior’
David Adshead, ‘The Origins of the Georgian Group’
Michael Hall, ‘Inter-War Classical: Wellesley and Wills, Country House Architects’
